Cognitive tests offer a good idea of where someone lies along the intelligence spectrum. People possess many different forms of intelligence, from logical IQ to emotional IQ, and there are many ways for someone’s most appropriate intelligence to come to light. My assessments are designed to measure intelligence and cognitive ability in older adolescents and adults.

What is the Purpose of Cognitive Assessments?

Testing Accommodations:

If you are planning to take the GRE, MCAT, or CBE, testing accommodations are available to individuals who suffer from anxiety, ADHD and other psychological conditions. Accommodations for college and graduate school entrance exams are one of the most common reasons for obtaining a psychological assessment.

Accommodations that can be provided to you include extended time on tests, the use of a scribe or computer, or having the questions and answers read aloud to you.

To be granted these accommodations, it is beneficial to have a documented history of learning difficulties, such as any type of school-based accommodation (e.g., an individualized education plan).

Problem-Solving:

IQ and Achievement tests are often administered to predict future individual performance in work or education, allowing for a more tailored approach to resolving issues that may arise in these environments.

Identifying Areas for Additional Support

Cognitive tests offer insight as to where one needs to improve or practice. For example, if a test indicates that someone has great verbal and reasoning skills but struggles with logical and numerical skills, there might be a way to better understand their learning abilities and ultimately increase their performance in those fields.

Identifying the Appropriate Level of Rigor Needed

The combination of IQ and Academic testing can help identify those with higher than average capabilities, which can help develop new curriculum if they are bored or find themselves underserved by standard classes.
