Q. What does an assessment involve?

A. Each psychological assessment is different depending on its purpose, but they all follow the same basic process. There is an initial session to review your concerns, then another session for testing. Testing can take 4-6 hours and may occur over two appointments. Finally, we meet for a feedback session where you get a report with the results and my recommendations.

Q. How can I pay you?

A. For psychotherapy, my fee is $350 for a 50-minute session. I accept all major credit cards (including American Express), cash, and check. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so you will be billed the full amount if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance.

For psychological testing, the fee depends on the assessment being offered.  Psychological testing and assessment is a covered benefit through insurance when medically or psychologically necessary and is provided in conjunction with otherwise covered psychotherapy.  However, psychological testing is not covered by insurance when used for academic or vocational placement or assessment, when used to evaluate non-covered disorders (for example, learning disorders) or when used to assess intelligence in the absence of a need to diagnose or plan treatment for a covered psychiatric disorder.  The cost of psychological assessments varies depending on the referral question and the tests administered, and fees range from $500 - $3,500 for a comprehensive exam. I welcome your call to discuss further.
